Review: Marriage Story

Marriage Story depicts one of the most realistic portrayals of divorce ever put to film, and in doing so creates a cinematic experience filled with heartbreaking emotion and depth through its writing, performances and direction.

Review: Knives Out

With charismatic performances and a perfectly fine balance between a whodunit mystery and comedy, Rian Johnson’s Knives Out proves to be one of the most enjoyable films of the year.

Review: Hustlers

In a rather surprising film outing, Hustlers proves to be an enjoyable time filled with drama, crime and comedy that audiences have come to expect from this type of movie. While it’s not a perfect film by any means, the outstanding and diverse performances and excellent direction make it a good time nonetheless.

Review: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

A directionless plot and unclear message mixed with great performances and beautifully crafted scenes might just make Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood the best worst movie this year.

Review: Veronica Mars – Season Four

A series that has come back from the dead more than any show in recent memory, the fourth season of Veronica Mars offers a new, intriguing season-long mystery, real stakes for the main cast and phenomenal performances all around. In a world full of other revival series banking more on nostalgia such as Fuller House, BH90210 and Heroes Reborn, Veronica Mars may be the best television revival thus far, though not without a few flaws.

Review: Joker

Although it may not be the conventional comic movie, Joker has a lot to offer in terms of its dark narrative, beautiful direction and incredible performance by its leading man.

Review: Ma

Ma is a showcase of its star’s acting talent, but unfortunately brings nothing new to the oversaturated genre. The result is a film with a charismatic lead that is far too talented for this predictable and retreaded horror plot.

Review: Aladdin (2019)

With outstanding performances, costumes and song and dance numbers, Aladdin proves to defy all expectations by being one of the most enjoyable films of the year so far. Although a few plot points stumble, there’s still tons of fun to be had in this live-action adaptation of another Disney classic.

Review: Unicorn Store

Brie Larson shines in her directorial debut in a story about growing up, moving on and achieving your dreams in Netflix’s Unicorn Store. However, while the direction is excellent, some of the storytelling elements dampen what is otherwise a fairly enjoyable and creative narrative.
